🐸 Kicking Off Spring: Starting Seedlings!

Ladies and gentle-frogs, toads, and all the creatures in between, it's your favorite news amphibian, Tomás the Toad, back with the second issue of The Toadstool Times!

🚩 Be sure to scroll down to the bottom for an extra special treat: a video release!

Can you believe it? Issue #2 already!

It feels like only yesterday we were germinating our first seeds, and now look at us—growing tall and strong like a beanstalk reaching for the sky.

But enough about us, let's get down to business.

First and foremost, let me express my deepest gratitude to all of you who've supported us along the way, especially those who've subscribed to The Toadstool Times.

You're the reason we do what we do, and we couldn't be more grateful for your love and encouragement.

Thank you from the bottom of our green little hearts! 💚

Now, let's talk weather.

If you're in the Columbus, Ohio area, you'll know that spring has well and truly sprung.

We've got more sunshine than a field of sunflowers, and the occasional rain shower to keep things fresh and green.

It's a beautiful time of year, and we're loving every minute of it.

Speaking of spring, did you know that Monday was the official Spring Equinox? 🌷

That's right, folks, it's time to shake off the winter blues and welcome the new season with open arms!

Here at Borzi Farms, we celebrated in style by reorganizing our seed collection, cleaning out the garage, and picking up assorted litter sprawled around the yard.

We may not be able to save the whole planet, but we can certainly do our part to keep our little corner of the world clean and tidy!

And that brings me to my next point...

Folks, please don't litter! 😔

It's bad for the environment, it's bad for the animals, and it's just toad-ally rude.

Fun Fact! Did you know that you can actually reuse some of the most commonly littered items around the garden?

Take plastic bottles, for example—you can cut them in half and use them as planters, or turn them upside down and use them as mini greenhouses.

It's a win-win for both you and Mother Earth!

But enough of my soapbox, let's talk seedlings. 🌱

Our indoor babies are growing tall and strong, and we're nearing the time to thin them out. That's right, folks, soon we'll be doing Darwin's work over here, picking the strongest plants to move forward and leaving the weaker ones behind.

It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it.

So far, spinach was the first to sprout, followed shortly by cucumbers, zucchini, tomatoes, and a lone butternut squash that is really showing promise.

You know what they say, folks—when life gives you butternut squash, make soup!

Or, better yet... make a video!

Which is exactly what I've done for you.

Just scroll down the to the bottom of this note to see it!

🥕 Meanwhile, to round out this issue, let's add a little laughter to your day with some veggie puns:

  • Why did the farmer bury all his money in the garden? He wanted rich soil!
  • Why did the veggie gardener go to the beach? To get a little "peas" and quiet!
  • How do we toads prepare our best meals? Using a Croak-Pot!

Okay, okay, I'll stop. I don't want to kale your vibe. 😉

But before I go, let me say thank you once again for joining us on this journey. We'll be back in your inbox in just one week with more updates, more puns, and more green goodness.

Until then, stay rooted and sprout some joy!

Yours truly,
